This textbook example of Italianate architecture was built in 1915 by Charles Ebbets, second owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball franchise, whose family spent the spring training season here. The oversized corner lot, located in historic Harbor Oaks near downtown Clearwater, features mature live oak trees dripping in Spanish moss and a privacy hedge. The renovated pool, surrounded by paver decking, connects to a shady brick patio. A newly renovated 700 square foot carriage house offers a new kitchenette, two bedrooms with heart of pine floors and a bath. The gracious two story home contains numerous charming features denoting its period style. Hand crafted oak floors contain different inlaid border designs. Picture frame molding, crown molding and window shutters are featured throughout the house. In addition to the formal living room and dining room, the family can congregate in the light and airy family room and sunroom/breakfast room enhanced by abundant French doors and tile flooring. A first floor study is included. The two room kitchen includes the original farmhouse sink, original tile backsplash and two pantries. The second floor master bedroom with walk-in closet connects to a bath featuring a separate shower with original copper deluge showerhead and original built-in platform scale. Two other bedrooms share a private Jack and Jill bath. Additional property amenities include a three car carport, living room fireplace flanked by bookcases, original crystal chandeliers, original servants call bell system, gas appliances and sprinkler reclaimed water.
