I installed hardwood floors in almost every room of my house because of my dogs. It's easier to keep clean and no worries of dog smell in carpet. I have 3 large dogs in my house and there a few small "surface" scratches but nothing that can't be fixed with a little buffing. As long as you keep their claws trimmed down with something like a Dremmel tool, you should have no problems.
